The club was founded in January 1984 and currently has nearly 70 members but always welcomes more as it believes the more members, the more active it can be in arranging outings and other events. In addition to monthly lunches, it holds a coffee morning each month. Monthly outings are also arranged, usually by coach, as are rambles followed by a pub lunch. Wives and widows of members are invited to all outings and rambles and to the Christmas lunch and other special occasions. The ladies also have their own luncheon club.
