MARCH
SPRING BUFFET
The Branch held its annual Spring Buffet for members, partners and widows in the Bower Room of the St Neots Conservative Club on Wednesday 22ndMarch 2017. A total of 78 people seated at tables of 10 enjoyed a two course lunch consisting of a carvery, with a selection of beef, turkey, gammon or meat pie and all the trimmings, dessert was either cheesecake of fruit salad, this was followed by coffee/tea and mints. This was our first event without a seating plan and judging by the conversations and gatherings around the tables the arrangement seemed to work well. Kevin and his staff did a sterling job as usual looking after everyone and the event was deemed a success in view of the fact that it was quite late when the last group departed.
The Branch is now looking forward to its next gentleman’s luncheon on Wednesday 5thApril and planning is well under way for our next big event which is our Anniversary Lunch on Wednesday 3rdMay 2017.
The Branch is now looking forward to its next gentleman’s luncheon on Wednesday 5thJuly and planning is well under way for our next event at Roxton which is our Annual Hog Roast on Wednesday 23rdAugust 2017.

A total of 71 people were treated to a fine selection of sandwiches, scones, jam and clotted cream, cakes with coffee or tea, followed by fresh strawberries and cream. There was a raffle after the tea and the opportunity to spend time browsing through the garden centre. This event is now firmly established in the Branch social calendar and the staff at Roxton Garden Centre looked after us all extremely well, even giving everyone a voucher for 5% off any purchases made on the day.
AUGUST
MESSING ABOUT ON THE RIVER
The Branch social calendar continues to be a popular series of events for the members, wives, partners and widows. Our latest event on Wednesday 26th July 2017, saw a total of 28 members, wives, partners and widows taking a 2 hour cruise on the River Lea including a cream tea (We like our food in the St Neots Branch!!). The weather was excellent and a good time was enjoyed by all.
The next event is a visit to the Supreme Court, London in September which will include a one hour behind the scenes tour.
Our Social Secretary and his team are busy finalising the programme of events for 2018, which we eagerly await to see what he has in store for us all.
Members Monthly Lunches and Monthly Coffee Mornings are both very well attended and our membership level is good, with a number of new additions being inducted during 2017.
SEPTEMBER
A group of 19 members and partners visited the Supreme Court in London on the 8 September 2017. They were treated to a very interesting behind the scenes look at what goes on in the Supreme Court and enjoyed listening to the knowledgable guide who was extremely engaging and kept everyone interested.
The Library was of particular interest as it is not normally accessible to the public.
DECEMBER
The Branch rounded off 2017 with the AGM on the 1 November, which saw our Presidency change. As Robert had completed his two year stint, he officially handed over to John at our final lunch of the year. 89 Members, guests, partners and ladies sat down for our now traditional Christmas dinner in the Bower Room of the Conservative Club, St Neots on the 6 December 2017. As ever a fine selection of Christmas fare was on offer courtesy of Kevin and his staff.
Our last event of 2017 was the December coffee morning held on Wednesday 20 December, where the Committee served the tea, coffee, mince pies and assorted cakes and biscuits.
