It is my pleasure to be President for the coming year and so welcome to the 2024-2025 session of Granite City Ladies Probus Club!
All current members of the GCLPC are being sent this message either by email or post. The membership list will be updated once the date for payment of subscription fees has passed. As mentioned previously and at the AGM, members will be asked to complete a new form this year in relation to data protection and retention of their personal details. Forms to be completed at September & October meetings.
See “SYLLABUS” for the Programme 2024-2025 which has another varied selection of topics – hopefully there will be something of interest for everyone.
Curl Aberdeen will accommodate us in the downstairs café area for our meetings. If the café is unavailable (eg during curling competitions), we will be accommodated upstairs (lift available). Information about interest groups’ start dates (book clubs, Mah Jong, walking group, lunch club)
Our printed syllabus booklet will compiled after the September deadline for distribution at the October meeting, and will be sent out thereafter to those not attending. As before, it will contain the programme, list of Committee members, list of interest groups and convenors and list of members/telephone numbers. (Members missing this deadline will, of course, receive the syllabus but unfortunately, to allow for professional printing, their names will not be included in it.)
Subscription fee remains at £25 and is due at or before the first meeting (11 September 2024). If at all possible, it would helpful to receive payment in advance of the meeting to allow ample time for the speaker.
We ask that members pay by cheque or bank transfer as follows :
Option 1 – Payment by cheque
Cheque payable to Granite City Ladies Probus Club to be handed over at the first meeting OR sent by post to the President.
Option 2 – Payment by Bank Transfer
Contact me for full details as per email/post sent privately to members.- munrosy152@btinternet.com or telephone 01224 484471.
If you know of anyone who is interested in joining GCPLC, please contact me with their names or give them my details as above. I can then arrange for them to receive details and an application form.

“GLOBAL PROBUS” Contact: Georgina Rep. for Scotland: NEW !! Weblink to SEPTEMBER 2024 newsletter PROBUS Newsletters (probusglobal.org) = click on link to read Saving time on sending out email / printouts to members. Zoom Link on meetings/talks sent to those who wish to join-in Last month we held our quarterly online general meeting with attendees from Canada, UK, Australia, South Africa, India, Japan, Florida, Mexico, New Zealand, France, and Belgium. We really feel like a global community now. We have observed a number of clubs combining or folding in recent months as their members age. A few clubs have folded purely because nobody was willing to volunteer their time to join the management team to keep them organized. Let’s not allow that to happen to PROBUS Global.
One of the suggestions at the meeting was to start a virtual PROBUS Club to include members from places that don’t have a local club and Probians who would enjoy occasional virtual meetings by Zoom with a guest speaker or other activities, such as games. The suggestion was met with a lot of approval. But to make it happen, we need a leader and some help. If you are interested in belonging to an online PROBUS club, please raise your (virtual) hand..
PROBUS Global has the mission of helping our members communicate with each other regardless of their location.
